The Media Features of the New PS3
Sony says that the update of the PlayStation includes advanced personalization options and enhancements to the XMB (Xross Media Bar). You can still download HD TV shows and movies available from the Sony Store.
The Blu-ray player is probably the PS3′s most looked-for feature. The PlayStation 3 is actually considered to be one of the best Blu-ray players available out in the market. This is probably because it is able to connect to the Web via Wi-Fi or Ethernet for frequent firmware updates.
An extremely cool feature new to the PS3 Slim is the support for HDMI Consumer Electronic Control (CEC). This gives you control the player by using an HDMI CEC-enabled HDTV’s remote. This feature is referred to as Bravia Sync. If you want to activate this feature, you just have to access the menu via the System Menu. Moreover, the PS3 supports Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). This allows you to stream content from a variety of networked media sources directly to the console.
The previous generation of PS3 is already a superb gaming device on its own. The latest model is even more attractive if you can believe it. It comes at a lower price, is much slimmer, and is more energy-efficient. With the HDMI CEC features, you’ve just brought home the ultimate winner. It is the one console that every serious gamer and home entertainment buff should have because it is versatile media center on its own. With the Blu-ray player as a bonus, you can’t ask for anything more.
